Fixed Flange Tow Bar
The most commonly found fitment and often the cheapest.
Pros
- Low Cost
- Accepts all accessories including Cycle carriers, stabiliser bars and bumper protectors
- Available for most vehicles
Cons
- Can look bulky
- Is likely to be detected by reverse parking sensors
- Requires specialist tow-ball for trailers and caravans fitted with Al-Ko stabilisers,
(and some Thule Cycle carriers)

Detachable FlangeTow Bar
For those who do not tow regularly or wish to retain the vehicles original appearance when not towing, but require the flange fitting for other towing accessories
Pros
- Neat and tidy appearance
- Removable when not being used
- No impact on reverse parking sensors (when removed)
- Compatible with Al-Ko stabilisers fitments (if Al-Ko towball is fitted to flange)
- Compatible with all Flange fitting accessories.
Cons
- Not available on all vehicles

Fixed Swan Neck Tow Bar
Often selected for both aesthetic reasons and lower likelihood of interference with reverse parking sensors.
Pros
- Mid range cost
- Neat final look
- Not as likely to affect reverse parking sensors
- Compatible with Al-Ko stabilisers fitments
Cons
- Not compatible with bumper guards and other accessories that require flange bolt design
(ie Witter Cycle carriers) - Slightly higher cost than Fixed Flange bars
- Not available on all vehicles

Detachable Swan Neck Tow Bar
Frequent choice of fitment for those who do not tow regularly or wish to retain the vehicles original appearance when not towing.
Pros
- Neat and tidy appearance
- Removable when not being used
- No impact on reverse parking sensors
- Compatible with Al-Ko stabilisers fitments
Cons
- Not compatible with bumper guards and other accessories that require flange bolt design
(i.e. Witter Cycle carriers) - Relatively expensive
- Not available on all vehicles

Retractable Tow Bar
New style fitment that allows the user to ‘hide’ the towball without is removal.
Pros
- Neat and tidy appearance
- Folds away when not in use
- No losing or hunting for the towball neck
- No risk of theft
- No impact on reverse parking sensors
- Compatible with Al-Ko stabilisers fitments
Cons
- Not compatible with bumper guards and other accessories that require flange bolt design (i.e. SomeCycle carriers)
- Relatively expensive
- Not available on all vehicles
